Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique. It is an alternative form of medicine healing.

It is used to help release stress and promote relaxation whilst at the same time encouraging the body to heal both mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.  It is a “hands-on” technique.  It is based on the “universal life energy” which flows through us all and everything around us and this energy is what gives us life.  We are all connected as we are all energy, humans, animals and plants.

If a persons “energy” is low in the body, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stressed or feel stuck in our lives.  Whereas when our energy is high we are happier, more vibrant and feel much more healthier.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that every one of all ages can avail of. You lie down on a plinth during a session and the Practitioner will position there hands in a series of movements on or near your body channelling the energy into the various chakras to balance them.  When chakras are balanced the body will naturally work at healing itself and work at its optimum level.

Reiki has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and disease and always creates a beneficial effect. It works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to help relieve side effects and assists in promoting recovery.

I am often asked to explain what reiki is and this is my way of explaining what it means to me….

Think of a beautiful mountain with a fresh water stream gently flowing down the side of the mountain into a lake half way down.  The water gently leaves the lake at the opposite side and continues to flow down the mountain to the ocean.  The sun shines, heat causes moisture to rise up and forms clouds, these clouds rise up over the mountain and rain falls down into the stream and the whole cycle starts all over again.  Now think of your energy as that water, gently flowing day in and day out, naturally, unhindered.

If you then think of every trauma, illness or stress you may haved encountered as you move through life as being a piece of wood which is dropped into your energy lake by a beaver.  Eventually a dam has been built and the beautiful clear water of the lake now doesn’t move as freely or efficiently as it used to and instead ends up with algae and being sluggish.  This is what it is like in our system when we experience situations or trauma’s that we may suppress in our bodies.  We build a dam within ourselves.  Over time it leads to sluggishness and not being able to perform to our full true potential.  Essentially only a morsel of what we are truly capable off is trickling through into our every day life.

A qualified Practitioner who has been attuned to channel the energy of Reiki will assist your body in gently removing bit by bit the pieces of wood which have built up over the years to allow your body to once again move more freely and proficiently.  Clearing the lake over a period of time of the dam.

There are five principles in Reiki which each Reiki Practitioner aspires to live by.

A Reiki treatment works on the person as a whole including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects such as:

  • Relaxation
  • Feelings of peace
  • Sense of security
  • General wellbeing.
